After years of recipe requests, we recently compiled and published our first cookbook. “Inn Edibles – A Collection of Favorite Recipes from the Harbor House Inn” features 64 pages of the Inn’s most tried and true recipes.
The book makes a perfect gift, keepsake and souvenir. It includes chapters on Breads, Breakfast Casseroles, Coffee Cakes, Cookies & Bars, Muffins & Scones and This & That, a variety of other delicious treats. A highlight of the publication is the Inn’s coveted recipe for its signature caramels, which we hand make fresh daily right here and serve at the Inn.
The spiral bound soft back includes pages on the Inn’s history as well as community information that reflects Grand Haven as an attractive year-around destination. There is also helpful, easily referenced and valuable information on such things as Pantry Basics; Herbs and Spices; Baking Breads and Desserts; Cooking Vegetables and Fruits; Napkin Folding; Measurement Substitutions; Equivalency Charts; Food Quantities; Quick Fixes; Counting Calories; and a glossary of cooking terms.
Most everything we serve here is baked fresh daily by our friendly and talented innkeepers – whether it’s our complimentary daily snack buffet or our continental-plus breakfast. “Our guests frequently ask us for our recipes,” Linda Rosema said, Harbor House Inn Manager, “so we thought that a collection of favorites would provide them with a nice travel gift to take home or become a keepsake and souvenir of their stay.”
Cookbooks are available for public purchase at the Inn for $10. They are also available on loan at the Spring Lake and Loutit District libraries. They can also be ordered for $13 that includes first class mail shipping, or by calling the Harbor House Inn at 616-846-0610.
